PDAs Comes Closer And Friendlier With Touchscreen Technology
by on Jul.31, 2009, under Uncategorized
Portable Digital Assistants (PDAs) are adopting touchscreen technology to make it easier to operate the device. These have become immensely popular. A touchscreen detects a touch within its display area. The touch may be that of a finger or hand directly or through an intermediary as a stylus. This makes the touchscreen as an interface to interact with the device through the touchscreen. The interaction is with what is indicated or displayed at the point of touch. It is a substitute of what otherwise was managed directly by a mouse or a touchpad. Touchscreen actually does not even need an intermediary as a stylus. The origin of touchscreen was in the 1960s and in 1972 it was used in a computer assisted learning terminal. The HP-150 was one of the earliest commercial touchscreen computer launched in 1983. Multipoint touchscreen has since been developed to facilitate touch by more than one finger on the screen. It is now possible for multiple users to interact with the touchscreen at the same time.
The kiosk systems have been one of the first to extensively apply the touchscreen technology. These kiosks are established for various purposes in retail stores, ATMs, airports and train stations and tourist settings amongst others. Touchscreen displays have been introduced widely in gaming consoles, automobiles, appliances, airplanes, hand display devices of many kinds and machine control systems. Industries as well as room automation uses the technology extensively. Touchscreen technology has been introduced into mobile phones too as the Nintendo DS and iPhone. It has also become quite popular with portable game consoles, PDAs, smartphones, and many of the information appliances.
Newer PDA models, sleek and fashionable, are making their appearance in the market. Newer features are integrated into the system. The market has such models as Palm TX, the PalmOne M515, Pharos 535e Traveler, palm Z22 handheld, Palm TX Handheld, HP iPAQ 111 Classic Handheld, Nokia N810 Portable Internet Tablet and Palm Tungsten E2 Handheld. You can check out users’ view in the Internet by searching, for instance, for Palm Z22 with Palm Z22 handheld organizer review.
PDAs have demonstrated their potential for absorbing newer technologies and extending its functionality. Expanding markets and technological advancement have brought the cost of PDAs down. PDAs have become more user-friendly that it can be operated by those who do not have much computer knowledge.
Small Gadget Yes, Plenty Of Use
by on Jul.08, 2009, under Uncategorized
My company is related to computer designing and programming and I am John: the owner and manager. So what we are doing mostly are software designing. The contracts we are getting are high end kind of. To give a good example would be the one we did for the city: a surveillance software. Twelve months of hard work was necessarily to finish it. And so many hours including the overtime. The current contracts we are getting are not as important though.
I am supervising five people. All of them top quality programmers. Our projects are good for Mac, Windows stuff and even Linux. I am also hiring part-time students, two of them, to work the weekends. Also I do give them all the extra work to be done in the evenings. The current contract I have is for an interesting website portal. The client is looking for a top-notch product with lots of possibilities. From the beginning, the customer asked us for many changes so far. That customer knows what he wants.
My company only uses high end equipments including the printers and office tools. In order to keep ourselves updated on the tasks and schedule, I gave all the programmers a HP iPAQ 4155 Pocket. This small gadget is incredible. Communication outside the workplace works great with it. I simply need my programmers to be kept up to date almost seven days a week. I cannot afford to have a sick employee and leave the others without the right information about the project.
It did happen last year. My main programmer had to stay home for a whole two weeks. We were simply too tight on the schedule to make everything up to date. Thankfully, the employee was able to give proper guidances. Such thing rarely happens. Everything is very well documented. That day, we simply had no time to check back everything. The customer was waiting and we were sweating. Since then I made sure everyone is up to date about the project and all the details are clearly understood.
My software company was founded 5 years ago. It started up as a small business and, with our good products, we went working on bigger projects. Since then we are getting regular orders from past clients. An important part of my job is to keep them updated about everything related to their project. My business is located downtown city. It is very close to the main business area. My office is very well located and it is nice to work here. I simply enjoy this company !
How to Fix the Most Common Laptop Issues
by on Jun.23, 2009, under Uncategorized
Many people these days are opting out of the desktop and buying laptops because they can have the best of both worlds at computer at home which is also mobile at the same time. And while they can be expensive for the high-end models, the many online discount shopping sites are making it possible for anyone to get cheap laptops as opposed to the high retail prices that are found in stores.
The main benefit of laptops is their portability. Laptops are meant to perform as desktops in a portable package. But this very same principle is what makes most laptops more vulnerable to failure than their desktop counterparts.
Hard drive malfunctions, port malfunctions, overheating, are just examples of common laptop problems. Laptop fixes can range widely from the simplest of cleaning to major overhauls.
Hard Disk Drive Problems
Hard drive failures are common problems for laptop computers. IDE drives are known to unplug due to movement of laptops. Until the introduction of solid state drive laptops were vulenerable to rotating hard drives and shock. The best and most simple fix is to reset the drive, or replace it if needed.
Overheating
Overheating is one of the most common laptop problems. Whether it’s from a broken fan or from blocked air intakes, laptops can easily over heat. The best fix for this one is to replace the fans or clean the air intake from blockage.
Assemby Problems
Sometimes it is because of a laptop’s mobility that internal parts can fail. A word of advice: if you ever disassemble a laptop to change an internal component, make sure you mark which screws go into which slot.
While it may seem like it doesn’t matter, using the wrong screw like one that is too long for the space can damage internal parts.
Port Issues
Peripheral ports are also vulnerable to fail. Many times people forget any plugged in cables and just pick up their laptops damaging their ports in the process. This will require either port or board replacement.
As with desktop computers, laptop computers also suffer from software problems, network configuration issues, many types of malware and viruses registry errors. But these are fixed by reconfiguring, resetting, or reloading software and by using the best anti virus software to protect from and remove infections.
Of course any complex problems or breakdown may require a qualified technician.
The Netbook Mini Laptop - Pros and Cons
by on Jun.17, 2009, under Uncategorized
Mini laptops, otherwise known as Netbooks, are getting more and more popular these days. Every major computer company has at east one, if not more models out, and it seems that more and more people are deciding to buy these incredible mini computers.
Pros for the Netbook
1. Especially in the current economy, they are an excellent way to get the computing power that a person needs in a small package that is easily portable and affordable. With the increasing cost of electronics overall and especially computers, have been buying refurbished laptops, or Netbooks, which allow for a more affordable mobile computing option.
2. They are good for travel and commuters, sometimes are the best laptops for students who can’t afford anything better, and a person who has very few needs in a computer. This is how they got their name: the platform was originally created as something that could only go on the Internet and word process.
3. They are cheaper than any other mobile computer and come in models under $200. And, if you do not need a lot of performance or a high-powered laptop the price makes the Netbook a great alternative.
Disadvantages
There are several cons to Netbooks versus laptops.
1. The most obvious disadvantage is their small size, especially with the screen, screen, which is the biggest turn off for many. This makes it much harder to see especially if you plan to use the Netbook as a primary computing machine.
2. They also sometimes do not have a full size keyboard or, in some cases, a decent sized mouse. For example, the most recent model of HP mini has a keyboard that is only 80 percent of standard size, with a smaller mouse with buttons to either side, rather than at the bottom. This is far from user friendly.
3. The other main negative to buying a Netbook is the smaller amount of computing power. Most Netbooks today only come with 1 GB of ram and a 1.6 GHz processor. Most do not even have a graphics card. This is more than sufficient for simple tasks such as word processing, email, Internet and more.
You probably won’t be playing any recent games with a Netbook since gaming laptop features require super performance that just does not come with a Netbook, or even using any other software with large resource requirements. This lack of resources is the reason why most net books come with Windows XP, rather than Vista. They are overall a great way to get some cheap mobile computing power.

Or would you like a high-resolution webcam installed in your laptop, included in the selling price? Remember that your preferences will determine whether you can really work fine with the option of used laptops or simply buy a new one with a newer set of features.
Tip #2 Look at the labels before you purchase the laptop. There have been so many victims—make sure you do not fall for any of these tricks.
Tip #3 Make yourself familiar with the help of reviews. Users who have personally encountered problems in their used laptops are the sources that you should find very useful in making your final choice of laptop unit. Get to know more of these stuffs by joining online forums and threads that are absolutely for free.
Tip #4 Confirm if the laptop is available. Before sticking your decision to a single laptop offer from the rest of the deals online, make sure that the unit is available for shipping, or that the price is still the same as indicated in the website. You can manage to make up your mind fast and certain of your decisions if you learn to be very familiar with the tips mentioned above.
Tip #5 Keep your line open for more offers. Used laptops are coming out so quick that there is actually more supply than demand in the recent market. Therefore, it pays a lot to keep your eyes and ears open for better deals to come, before you make a hasty choice.
Tip #6 Know where to buy the best laptop deals ever.
